On Tuesday, August 23, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko met the participants of the Forum of Ukrainian Youth in the Diaspora. The Deputy Chairman informed about the plans of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the coming session, and outlined the most high-profile bills to be considered.
Asked whether members of the Ukrainian diaspora can be represented in the parliament, M.Tomenko responded that the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws ruled that only citizens of Ukraine can be deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.
However, M.Tomenko advised the young people concerned about law-making in Ukraine to cooperate with Ukrainian youth organizations. He stated that an expert institution including young lawyers, political scientists, and economists out of Ukrainians living abroad would be only welcome.
